These classes are designed for those with little or no experience in the practice of yoga. Classes move slowly and asanas (postures) are explained in detail. As students progress in this class, teachers will encourage increased levels of awareness in body, breath and mind. Class ends with deep relaxation and a short period of meditation.
These classes are for both beginner students and those who may have some familiarity with the practice of yoga. Modifications for more difficult asanas are shown and explained so that even those not ready to engage in a very challenging practice will feel comfortable in this class setting. Teachers will encourage those students who are ready to challenge themselves in the practice to do so in this class. Class ends with deep relaxation and a longer period of meditation.
Intermediate Level This class is for students who have been practicing yoga for some time and feel comfortable in challenging themselves physically and mentally in their yoga practice. Emphasis is on going deep into feeling and sensation while practicing challenging asanas. As always class ends with deep relaxation and a period of meditation.
A class designed to specifically relax the body and take the mind to a deeply restful and meditative state. Most postures are passive and held for a substantial length of time with the assistance of props so that muscles may fully relax. For renewed stamina and energy this class is wonderful. Also can be an effective method to reduce insomnia.
This class is great for those new to yoga or those wanting a gentle class. Some restorative postures will be included in this class.
All populations would benefit from this gentle yoga class especially those looking to quiet the mind and relax. Emphasis will be on nurturing and caring for your body. It is beneficial for pregnant and postpartum women and for those new to yoga. Yoga asana, breathing practices, meditation and relaxation will be included in this class.
The slow movements of Tai Chi are graceful, powerful, relaxed, balanced, and meditative. Developed in China over a thousand years ago, this form of exercise unites the mind and the body, combining aspects of meditation, exercise, visualization and martial art. Once learned, a Tai Chi form may take ten minutes to perform. Done once or twice daily, it provides extraordinary health benefits, improving balance, flexibility and strength, while calming the spirit and reducing stress.
Parent & Child (ages 2 - 7) Objectives for this class includes: helping young children increase their ability to focus, promoting their ability to follow directions and increase self-control. Other objectives include improved muscle development, balance, coordination and flexibility. In an atmosphere of laughter and joy, this class will enhance creativity, imagination, and a sense of community, while fostering an intimate relationship between parent and child.
This class is designed for expecting mothers and is appropriate during all stages of pregnancy. Emphasis will be on nurturing and caring for your body during pregnancy and preparing for birth. Yoga asana, breathing practices, meditation and relaxation will be included in this class.
Yoga for kids (ages 8 and up) Objectives for this class include helping children increase their ability to focus, offering them a method for relieving tension, helping them increase flexibility, strength and endurance and building self- confidence. This class is taught with an atmosphere of fun and community in a non-competitive environment. Classes provide a positive beginning for these bright and spirited young men and women.
